I noticed last night during a commercial for a recorded TV show that there was a very high-pitched sound at one point...  Oddly enough, I was the only one that could hear it!  I recorded the sound to my PC and posted it here to find out if I'm just a freak or if my hearing is that good, which would explain why I always put audio at high bit-rates. :P

You can listen to it here:

Yep. Its quite cruel actually, they use this sound in the UK around shopping center to try and deter loitering. Its really annoying though as there are a bunch of them around my college

Yow, that hurt.  But yeah, really really high.  The one at the end of A Day in the Life is higher and I can hear it.

I hear much worse kinds of sounds on a daily basis. Like one time in science class I hear one, and I start gripping my ear. Everyone else is wierded out. I can also hear a distinct sound when a device with a screen is turned on.

That sounds more like  a form of tinnitus to me

Its not, its due to electric things running nearby. ::) Turned out in science class someone had turned on the motor for this car we were building. Also its very similar to the tv sound. I apparently can hear the sound made by electricity moving. :P But there isn't anything wrong with me. You can be sure.

Hehe, I was about to say "hm, for some reason I can't hear this one" before I realized my speakers were off.  Yeah, I can hear it fine, but unlike many people it doesn't hurt me at all.  It's just mildly annoying.

What do you mean I need a life?  =P  Hm... Lives... Isn't that something that you get in Super Mario Bros?  You know, those green mushrooms?  That's a life, right?

Its crazy. But it is perfectly possible, sound is air being bumped by something bumping into air bumping into air until it evenrually reaches your ear. And electricity does bump into air. Its nuts I know, but I don't find any other explanation for it. And I don't have tinnitus.

"... KFC's new Variey Bucket, I'm sure they'll love it."
I'm sure they will XD.
Oh and yeah, I do notice that sound quite well. And in response to other posts, I certainly do hear a slight, slight sound when certain CRT Screens are on :)..

I think newer screens conceal the sound better, though. I have a ~1yr. old CRT(of 30" no less).. and it's darn-near silent :). [unless you press your head to the back >_>]

I listened to it on a computer a few years old and it was faint. But I think with going crazy about high pitched frequency noises im the worst. In my uncles house he has a bunch of mice in the attic. So he put up a mouse trap that squeals and clicks "so loud humans cant hear it!" and mice supposedly run away from it. I found it irritatingly click from across the room. When I got closer I was pretty much going crazy and holding my ears down. o.o
